About the CBI

More on CBI Brussels

A closer look at the CBI's lobbying base at the home of politics in Europe

The CBI has had an office in Brussels since 1971. The purpose of the Brussels office is to assist the CBI in lobbying the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council on behalf of British business. The CBI works closely with its sister federations across Europe, and with BUSINESSEUROPE - the grouping of the major business federations of Europe - of which the CBI is a leading member

The Brussels office also acts as an early warning post, alerting the CBI to developments as they unfold in Brussels, and keeps lines of communication open through regular meetings with Commissioners, Commission officials and MEPs, assisted by visits from CBI policy committees, CBI regional councils and CBI members and staff.

Brussels club

The Brussels club is a focal networking point for representatives of member companies based in Brussels. Meeting 4-5 times a year, Club members can debate areas of topical interest with senior figures from the Commission and Parliament. We also run dinners and social events throughout the year. Membership is open to any CBI member company with a base in Brussels.

The British Business Bureau

Through its British Business Bureau, the CBI provides a dedicated information and advice service to a number of subscribing UK trade associations. You can contact the BBB by email at bbb@cbi.org.uk.

Legislative updates

The Brussels office regularly compiles legislative updates covering different policy areas. These list current EU proposals and enable members to track the progress of legislation. If you would like to find out more about these email sean.mcguire@cbi.org.uk.
