The policy experts who look after the interests of UK businesses in the USA

Rhian Chilcott, director, International

Rhian moved to the United States to open the Washington office in 2002, at which time it was the CBI's first truly international office. She now leads the co-ordination of all the CBI's international work, including managing teams in Beijing and New Delhi, and a core unit in London. She also runs the CBI's Global Government Relations Group - a best practice network for CBI members who deal with politics, policy or politicians in more than one nation state.

Before to moving to the US, Rhian was Head of Corporate Affairs for the CBI in London, with responsibility for the organisation's work programme and strategic planning. Her team also co-ordinated CBI lobbying in Whitehall, Westminster and Brussels. Previously, she was Special Adviser to the CBI's Director General, and has also worked as a policy adviser on education and training issues.

Rhian was educated at the King's School, Canterbury, and Christ Church, Oxford, where she read Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She is a director of the British American Business Association in Washington DC, and chairs its Programme and Government Affairs Committees.

Matt Bricken, senior policy adviser

Matt joined the CBI in 2010 where he handles the day-to-day needs of the Washington office primarily focusing on climate change, energy, financial services, trade, telecoms, and transport policies. Prior to the CBI, Matt co-founded a boutique political consultancy in the US and worked in London for various polling and public affairs organisations including YouGov and Dod's.

Matt began his career in transatlantic relations in the Global Issues Group at the British Embassy in Washington DC and has previously served various roles on host of political campaigns in both the UK and US. He is also chair of the British American Business Association Young Professionals Committee.

Matt holds a M.A. in Political Management from the George Washington University and a B.A. in Political Science from Transylvania University.

Jason Aul, government affairs assistant

Jason joined the CBI in 2011. Prior to the CBI he served as a Governmental Relations Intern to the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), a trade association representing high-tech companies in Washington, DC.

Jason is a native of St. Louis, Missouri and recently graduated from the George Washington University with a B.A. in Political Science.
