Universities

Universities are a vital part of the infrastructure that makes the UK a good place to invest and do business, by providing the skills and knowledge necessary for long-term success

Overview

A high-quality, sustainable higher education sector is of great importance to business. The importance of our HE sector to robust, sustainable economic growth must not be underestimated. Business relies on our universities for research, innovation, workforce training and graduate talent.

But business doesn't see itself just as a customer of universities, recruiting the graduates they educate or buying research expertise. Delivering the outcomes our economy needs requires strong partnerships between business, universities, government and students themselves - all have a role in supporting a first-class HE sector.

The CBI recognises the role they play. Business already works closely with higher education  institutions to help inform them of what businesses need from graduates and young people, and to support innovative partnerships and research that foster real improvements and create real value for the UK economy.
