A positive employee relations climate is key to the success of any business

Employee relations overview

Employee relations have come a long way in a short space of time. We have seen changes to the type of work and jobs we do, advances in technology and a more individualised management style. Employee relations today are about a direct relationship between employer and employee rather than the collective. The CBI believes the framework that governs employee relations should be brought up to date to match this.

What we do

The CBI also monitors the growing wave of internationally-coordinated trade union campaigns and the demand by global union federations for companies to sign international framework agreements. As part of the International Organisation for Employers (IOE) we can provide support for members experiencing difficulty on any of these issues. We also contribute to the UN's International Labour Organisation policy work and attend its annual conference as a member of the tripartite UK delegation.
