What we do
The CBI is at the centre of discussions with government and other stakeholders as the business rates system is revised. In particular, we continue to stand strong on defending the current uniform business rates systems - we know our members value the uniformity, consistency and certainty the current system offers.

But the government's review of the business rates system has opened up wide-ranging debate on how the system should work, with an emphasis on localising the retention of business rates.
There are also opportunities in this review to call for rates that encourage local authorities to be pro-growth - and the more we hear of the concerns and recommendations of our members, the better we can help shape a business rates system that enables business to invest and grow.
