Corporation Tax Issues are mainly dealt with by the Taxation Committee, which is one of the CBI's main standing committees. Its terms of reference are:
"To keep under review all matters to do with taxation within the UK and elsewhere as they affect industry and commerce, and to take any necessary action."
Main issues within corporation tax include capital allowances and corporation tax reform, which takes the form of a five-year treasury project "Roadmap" aimed at improving UK competitiveness based on a more territorial system. This will focus on controlled foreign companies; R&D tax relief and patent box; and taxation of foreign branches. Other topic-led issues or special projects are dealt with by the Corporate Taxes Working Group.
