UK is in ‘economic detox’, says CBI’s Neil Bentley
Deputy director-general says economy is ‘bumping along’ and set for 0.9% growth on Jeff Randall show
The UK is enduring a period of “economic detox”, the CBI deputy director-general, Neil Bentley, told the Jeff Randall show on Sky News yesterday.
Mr Bentley, who was appearing alongside RBS’s Moorad Choudhry, said there was cause for optimism in the CBI/PwC Financial Services Survey – but added that according to the lobbying group’s prediction, GDP would grow at 0.9% this year.
“We’re expecting bumping along as we go through economic detox as we get some withdrawal symptoms – but we are still forecasting for this year 0.9% GDP growth – so we are cautiously optimistic.”
