Speaking at the npower Energy Debate, Rhian Kelly, the CBI director of business environment, talked about the opportunities for growth in the ‘Green Economy’
Ms Kelly, speaking during the Demanding Times for Business sessoin at the npower Energy Debate, gave an overview of the current economic situation - stating that: “The current economic crisis has left businesses with a number of tough trade-offs.”
She added, however, that because of “green spurs on growth… the UK’s low-carbon and environmental goods market has been growing at 4% a year, and now employs just shy of 1m people”.
She went on to highlight that uncertainty in the policy landscape was holding back further investment and called for a “coherent joined-up approach to policy that encourages and enables business to innovate and continue to grow within the UK.”
