Emma Waktins: CBI Wales director's message for December
2012 is drawing to a close and the last few weeks are as busy as ever
2012 is drawing to a close and the last few weeks are as busy as ever.
We have built on the CBI’s high level engagement through a recent dinner with the secretary of state for Wales and some of his cabinet colleagues.
This proved a valuable opportunity to deliver some key messages on the Welsh economy to UK government ministers who still retain many of the levers that affect businesses.
We have also met with representatives from the new single environment body, Natural Resources Wales, and emphasised the importance of early and ongoing engagement with businesses throughout regulatory process.
The year ends with our final Wales Council later this week which the First Minister will attend, and will be followed by our annual dinner.
I will be leaving the position of director at the end of the year, as David Rosser is returning from his secondment in Welsh Government.
I have truly enjoyed my time back in Wales, working with CBI members and would like to thank you all for your support. I am moving to become acting director of International for the CBI and look forward to engaging with you all in my new role.
