Formulation of CBI policy
The CBI's policy positions are based on careful research, consultation with members and continuous dialogue with and intelligence gathering in Whitehall departments and the European Commission in particular. Over 80 policy professionals, working with the Councils and specialist Committees of the CBI, ensure that policy is founded on practical business experience and commands respect in Government. We have unparalleled access to decision-makers in Whitehall, Westminster and Brussels, and are frequently consulted informally before new proposals are published for full public debate.

The CBI and EMU
The CBI's 1999 member consultation and MORI poll have showed CBI members favour in principle UK entry into Europe's Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), once key conditions for success are in place.
