The next meeting of the CBI South West Environment Committee takes place on Tuesday 28 September 2010, kindly hosted by Aerospace Manufacturer Messier-Dowty in Goucester.
DEFRA has recently launched a review of waste policy in England and Wales, so this is a timely opportunity to discuss business priorities prior to the close of the Call for Evidence on 7 October. Read DEFRA's review
This meeting will provide an update on the implications and significance and also an opportunity to feed into our response on the recast of the Industrial Emissions Directive, which was voted through the European Parliament on 6 July.
The meeting will be followed by lunch and a tour of the Messier-Dowty plant.

The next meeting of the CBI South West Strategic Human Resources Forum will take place on the morning of Thursday 9 September, and will be kindly hosted by Bridgwater College.
We will be joined by either Gary Campkin or Jim Bligh, experts from our employment and human rights team, who will update us on the regulatory agenda and lead discussion on the CBI's position.
They will also be keen to hear members' latest feedback on the industrial relations situation.
We will also be hosting Jane Lovel and Jennifer Smookler, policy advisers from the Better Regulation Executive, who will discuss with us the government's Your Freedom initiative on the public challenge to worst regulatons.

The University of Plymouth has launched the Plymouth Graduate Internship Programme after winning funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England to generate graduate jobs in the region.
The programme will see the university work closely with employers in specific sectors, across Devon and Cornwall, to create short-term paid internships for 2008 and 2009 graduates.
Employers will receive financial support of up to £1,450 towards the intern's salary with the additional support of a free recruitment service. Internships will be for a minimum of eight weeks with an expected salary of £300 a week for the intern.
