CSR newsCombatting briberyCountering the demand side of bribery (otherwise know as extortion, solicitation or passive bribery) is an issue that the CBI has been campaigning on for many years. The 1997 OECD Convention on bribery of foreign public officials outlawed UK nationals, wherever they might be in the world, from paying bribes, but did nothing to eradicate the more pervasive issue of solicitation of bribes. We would like your views on what support and mechanisms you would find useful to counter requests for payment in markets where bribery might be perceived to be endemic. Would confidential helplines or greater intervention help? Or support from foreign embassies, or business uniting together in particular markets or sectors? Email Lucy Findlay with your views.CSR initiatives soughtWe are currently writing a new CBI paper on CSR for publication next year. Would you like to contribute an example of how you are engaging in environmental and community activity for inclusion? If so, please call Bryan Cress on 020 7395 8171 to discuss how you can get involved.Click here to go to the Policy Work page. |
