The UK is world's sixth largest trading nation even though it has just 1% of the world's population it is the tenth largest exporter of goods and the second largest exporter of services.The value of the UK's Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) exceeds £1trillion and is second only to the USA in the amount of money it invests abroad. Meeting the global challengeOur international work and influence is relevant to globalised business and international activities are increasingly becoming integral to all aspects of the CBI's policy work.Policy staff in London and in CBI’s offices in the US, India, China and Brussels ensure the business voice is heard on issues such as the international economy, business visas, market access issues, WTO and bilateral free trade agreements, financial regulation and the G20. The CBI's International Group at its headquarters in London deals with key market issues where we don't have an international office and seeks to ensure the further embedding of international work across the whole organisation. It has regular engagement with the FCO, UKTI and diplomatic missions in London. Regular communications are available to CBI members to keep them updated with our work. |
