Meeting the global challenge

The work of the International Group allows the voice of British business to be heard worldwide, and enables the CBI to define and enhance its reputation at an international level, in what is an increasingly globalised business environment. Many CBI members run international businesses, and all CBI members are affected by developments in the global market, so it is vital that their interests are represented at this level.

The mission of the CBI's International Group is 'to support and promote British Business interests in international trade, investment and development' through:

Policy formulation

Monitoring and assessing the international policy scene and anticipating future policy developments to ensure that legislative and regulatory frameworks in the UK, overseas markets and at international level are right for UK business.

Lobbying

Lobbying at national and international level to ensure that policy makers in the UK, overseas and at global level understand UK business needs in order for British trade and investment to succeed and prosper internationally.

Provision of information

Offering our members professional advice and effective sign-posting on issues relating to specific overseas markets, as well as to international trade, investment and development issues.

Contacts and networking opportunities

Providing high level access for CBI members, with opportunities to hear or meet with key world leaders, through a variety of larger conferences and events offering extensive networking opportunities, and through seminars and roundtables at which they can benefit from the opportunity of frank, direct discussion.
