Enterprise report seriesEnabling the enterprise revolutionIn 2000, the government set itself the objective of making the UK the best place in the world to start and grow a business. The CBI strongly backed this aim. To help deliver this objective, it created the Small Business Service (SBS). In 2002, the SBS set out seven strategic themes focusing its work to achieve its overall goal.Throughout 2005 and 2006, the CBI published a series of briefs – Enabling the enterprise revolution – that looked at whether progress on the main themes has been made, and gave key recommendations to government on how to achieve its targets. The series of briefs culminated in a final report, ‘Enabling the enterprise revolution – Key recommendations’, which was published in October 2006 and launched at an evening reception by CBI Director-General, Richard Lambert, and Small Business Minister, Margaret Hodge MP. The series of eight briefs appear here in PDF format, and the final report is available from the CBI bookshop.
