CBI COMMENT ON TORY LEADER'S SPENDING SPEECH
Reacting to David Cameron’s speech this morning (Tues) Richard Lambert, CBI Director-General, said:
“Mr Cameron is right to say that growth in public spending will need to be curbed in the years ahead.
“The CBI also supports the call for an independent Office for Budget Responsibility with a mission to establish public finances on a sustainable footing for the long-term. The time has come for the role of ‘judge and jury’ to be split.
“However, in the current exceptional circumstances the CBI believes there is a case for a well targeted, controlled and time limited fiscal stimulus in the immediate future.”
