CBI - policy work

Policy work

Welcome to CBI policy work

The CBI is business' most powerful lobbying force in the UK. We also lobby in Europe and across the world on behalf of our members with global interests to bring about effective change to the legislative and regulatory frameworks in which business operates.

To support our lobbying work we generate a wide range of policy materials and organise an extensive events programme.

This section contains news and information covering all aspects of our policy work.

  • The latest news can be found on our policy mini-sites. Updated fortnightly, these contain latest thinking on the issues which impact most upon business, plus links to in-depth documents, events and publications, contact information and useful external links.

  • Our most up-to-date speeches and guidance are available as PDF downloads.

  • Business summaries provide a snapshot of current policy issues and the CBI position on them.

  • Official responses comprise policy statements and recent submissions to government. These documents are in PDF format.

  • Policy briefs are designed to offer practical insights and guidance and contain CBI recommendations on important policy areas. Archived briefs are available in PDF format.

Briefs published from February 2006 are available as hard copies or PDFs from the CBI bookshop under 'research reports'.

  • Useful links - browse a vast selection of information sites relevant to business.
