Tuesday 8 April
Code for leasing business premises: one year on
The Code for leasing business premises was launched in March 2007 with the aim of promoting greater flexibility in commercial leases, The Code aims to raise awareness of lease negotiations, especially among small businesses, ensuring that occupiers of business premises have the information necessary to negotiate the best deal available to them.
This event will examine the impact that the code has had and will discuss how far these objectives are being met a year down the line.
Wednesday 25 June
Zero carbon buildings
With climate change now firmly on the agenda of business and government alike, reducing carbon emissions has increasingly become a priority. By June 2008 the Government’s the Code for Sustainable Buildings will have been published. The Code is expected to detail the Government’s ambitions for improvements in the sustainability of new commercial buildings, including a road-map of when and how the sector will reach those ambitions.
This event will investigate how businesses have reacted to the programme and what needs to be done to progress towards the Government’s ambitions.
Thursday 11 September
Plan-making: the importance of business involvement
The Government’s planning white paper placed a renewed focus on plan-making as a solution to many of the frustrations businesses have with the planning system. With new guidance on local plans due to be developed alongside further debate on the role of Regional Development Agencies there will be plenty of opportunity to influence the future of local and regional plan-making in 2008.
This event will debate the importance of local and regional plan-making for the business community and ideas for how businesses can best be involved in determining plans which affect their local area of region.
