The voice of business in Scotland
Scottish firms are gripped by challenges that are impossible to solve alone. A planning system that moves too slowly. Business rates that penalise investment. Skills gaps that hold back growth. When policy decisions threaten your ability to operate and compete, you have two choices: accept the status quo or join CBI Scotland and take action.
CBI Scotland has a clear vision for Scotland's economic future, shaped by our members, of the changes that will unlock growth across every sector and region. But that vision is only as strong as the businesses behind it. The more voices we have, the louder we are heard.
Unlocking infrastructure and energy potential
Faster grid upgrades, a pragmatic approach to nuclear, modern transport links and a planning system that works at pace would unlock billions in private investment. A national housing target and decisive progress on major projects would turn Scotland's potential into real economic gain.
Futureproofing Scotland's workforce
Fix college and university funding, set a single Scottish Skills Strategy, and bring transparency to Apprenticeship Levy funding. Expanded childcare, a demand-led apprenticeship offer and lifelong learning would lift participation, tackle persistent shortages and boost productivity.

A competitive business environment
Avoiding unnecessary divergence from the rest of the UK, delivering a long-term tax roadmap, and ensuring procurement and regulatory decisions don't create harmful divergence that undermines Scotland's attractiveness to investors, employers and skilled workers.

A digital and innovation economy
Accelerate full-fibre rollout, close 4G and 5G gaps and expand DigitalBoost. Simplify R&D support and deepen university-industry collaboration to help more Scottish firms innovate, commercialise and compete globally.
Scotland competing on the global stage
Scotland has global strengths in energy, financial services, food and drink, life sciences and education. Working with the UK Government to expand exports, attract investment and support more exporters into high-growth markets would boost productivity and long-term growth.
