Tax Task Force report adopted by CBI as policyThe CBI Tax Task Force report has been adopted by the CBI as formal policy. The task force launched its consultative report UK business tax: a compelling case for change in March 2008 and since then has undertaken a widespread member consultation to make sure the messages have the support of the broad CBI membership. The report which the task force put together is a comprehensive review of the UK’s corporation tax system and includes a strategic package of reform to make it suitable for an increasingly global economy. The member consultation revealed widespread support for the direction of reform proposed by the task force. The proposals, which include a lower rate of tax, simplifying the basis for computing tax and improving the legislative process, now become formal CBI recommendations to the government. The CBI is now planning a series of events and further work to drive forward this reform agenda.
