CBI continues to lobby on empty property rates
Empty property rate relief reductions came into force in Wales from April. The impact on businesses across Wales will be higher rate bills for properties that are hard to let. The CBI is shortly to meet with the Minister responsible- Brian Gibbons AM- to discuss the way forward. We are calling for the government to monitor the impact on businesses over a wide range of indicators including the rates of future development and flexibility of leases. For more information contact Leighton Jenkins on 02920 977 606.
CBI responds to skills strategy
The CBI has responded to the Welsh Assembly Government’s consultation ‘Skills that Work for Wales.’ The CBI welcomes the commitment to an employer-led skills strategy and we are keen to work with the government to make this a reality. A highly skilled workforce is a route to achieving higher productivity and growth and as such is critical to sustaining the Welsh economy. The CBI would like to see a strong emphasis on employability skills in the final government strategy along with more investment in level three and four skills.
