Dame Vivian has had an extensive career at McKinsey and Company, including 24 years’ service as well as serving as its first female Managing Partner in London leading all operations for McKinsey and Company’s United Kingdom and Ireland offices since January 2014. Previously, Vivian led the Pharmaceutical & Medical Products practice in EMEA for eight years.
Vivian is involved with a number of business groups; serving as Chair of British American Business and on the Mayor of London’s Business Advisory Board. She is a member the UK government-backed Industrial Strategy Council and the Trilateral Commission. She Chairs HRH Prince of Wales’ Business in the Community’s “Seeing is Believing” programme, and is a reader for the Queen’s Anniversary Prize. Vivian is Chair of Teach First Trustee Board, and is on the board of the US–UK Fulbright Commission. She sits on the Advisory Council of the Tate Modern and the Southbank Centre and is a Trustee of the British Museum.
Vivian is an alumna of Harvard University and received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Warwick and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of York.
In 2018, Vivian was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the economy and women in business.
