Brexit is moving forwards
The UK made its orderly departure from the EU on 31 January after the European Parliament bid farewell to its British members; this marks the start of the transition period running until 1 December 2020. Businesses will be pleased to see real discussions on the future trading relationship discussed and hopefully technical sectoral issues can start to be addressed.
The CBI continues to engage in Europe during this time; CBI Director-General, Dame Carolyn Fairbairn met with Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Trade, and Didier Seeuws, Head of the Council’s Brexit Task Force, on the eve of Brexit day to put across the point that despite the challenges of the last three years, together the UK and EU have made progress.
