The Public Sector Partners Council (PSPC) is a new CBI standing committee. It will act as our most senior consultation and steering body for work on issues related to the delivery of public services and infrastructure.
Public-private partnerships are under increasing scrutiny, with the ability of business to operate in support of public services and infrastructure being questioned more and more.
In this highly politicised environment, the CBI also believes that individual companies – or even individual sectors – working by themselves can only achieve so much.
The Council therefore convenes a broad coalition of industries to campaign on strategic issues affecting businesses which support public services and infrastructure, and to articulate the value of these industries.
This open dialogue will be crucial at a time where business investment and innovation is desperately needed, and where the UK public sector must rise to meet significant challenges, such as rapid technological change and the demands of an ageing population.
