The Government Equalities Office (GEO) announces suspension of enforcement of the gender pay gap reporting due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Due to the unprecedented pressure that the coronavirus outbreak has put on UK businesses the Government Equalities Office has announced that companies will not have to report their gender pay gap for this year.
As of now more than 3,000 employers have already reported their data via the gov.uk website this year (26% of expected reporters). The GEO will continue to provide support to employers in reporting their data this year should they wish to do so.
Gender pay gap reporting legislation has been introduced in 2017 and requires all companies with more than 250 employees to report their gender pay gap on an annual basis. Since the introduction of the new legislation businesses have seen the positive effect transparency can have in shining a light on workplace diversity and inclusion.
