An update from the CBI’s new Director of Economic Policy
I was delighted to join the CBI last month as the Director of Economic Policy. I’ve spent the last 13 years working as an economist in Whitehall, leading on a range of different analytical and policy issues at HM Treasury, including the National Living Wage, assessing the economic impacts of Budget policy measures and the long-term economic impacts of Brexit. As a policy maker I’ve seen first-hand the value placed on the insights the CBI offers from its members, by Ministers and other senior officials, this matters now more than ever as we continue to experience the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team faced another busy period this month, with the first fiscal event of the year and progress on the roadmap to begin to unlock the economy, while still recognising that many businesses remain in a challenging economic environment.
