After two years of work and anticipation, the new ‘Get help to retrain’ service was launched by the government on Thursday 18 July to a private group of individuals in Liverpool City Region. There were further roll-outs in the West Midland Combined Authority and the North East LEP in August 2019. Leeds City Region, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, and the Heart of the South West followed in October 2019.
This digital service will help adults to understand their existing skills, explore alternative roles or occupations and find relevant training to unlock opportunities for a broad range of good jobs that could be within their reach. The service will be rapidly expanded to more people and more areas throughout the testing phase before being made available to all eligible adults in England in 2020. See the BBC coverage here.
