The first month of the twenty twenties hasn't been short of political change with a host of new ministers in the key departments for innovation, digital and creative industries.
Starting at DCMS, Oliver Dowden has replaced Nicky Morgan as the Secretary of State and there is now an increase in its ministerial capacity. Caroline Dinenage is now Minister of State for Digital and Culture; John Whittingdale is Minister of State for Media and Data; while Matt Warman is Junior Minister for Digital Infrastructure and Nigel Huddleston is on Sport, Tourism and Heritage.
Meanwhile at BEIS, Alok Sharma has stepped into the top spot of Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, replacing Andrea Leadsom. The former Science and Universities Minister role has been split into two: Michelle Donelan is now Minister for Education at DfE and Amanda Solloway is Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at BEIS. The CBI will be writing to the new ministers to set out member priorities and meetings are already in the diary – a testament to our strong relationship with these departments.
