Tensions over the implementation of the Northern Ireland (NI) Protocol came to a head at the G7 over the weekend, with heads of states delivering strong messages in meetings with Boris Johnson after a week of little progress in talks between the UK and the EU.

Talks took place last week at the Joint Committee meeting between Lord Frost, Cabinet Office Minister and Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Vice-President about the ongoing implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol. With endings to grace periods approaching on crucial areas such as chilled meats and medicines, little progress was made on the many technical issues that businesses face when moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
