The launch of the world’s first ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) in London this month was an example of cities taking bold climate action, leading the way on reducing emissions and improving air quality. Since the introduction of the first London congestion charge in 2003, there has been a 25% reduction in traffic volumes and a significant saving in carbon emissions. But air pollution in London has remained too high, and it’s right that action is taken to protect the health of all those who live and work in the Capital.
