The business case for diversity has been made. Workforces that better represent the communities they serve are more profitable. But that doesn’t mean that it’s easy to find new types of talent, especially from marginalised groups that aren’t found through traditional recruitment streams.
There is a vital role the third sector can play to ensure that firms have diverse workforces, without compromising the need for efficiency that in particular underpins recruitment.
Leadership Through Sport and Business (LTSB), is a social mobility charity that works with bright young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We ensure they find meaningful, skilled careers, equal to their ambition and ability – and firms get positive, effective school leavers who can make a difference from their first day. Our work can be thought of as four key responsibilities:
- Promoting opportunities to those from backgrounds that are not normally reached
- Preparing young people for the workplace, and the workplace for the young peopl
