At the start of London Climate Action Week, the CBI London Under 35 Committee have set out their organisations’ priorities for tackling the climate emergency and highlighted what other firms can learn from their experiences.
During the year where the UK hosts the G7 and COP26, the nation finds itself at the forefront of the global stage with an opportunity to seize the moment, when it comes to addressing the global climate emergency. The situation is bigger than any one business and, for some, it can be daunting to even consider where to start to tackle it. The CBI’s London Under 35 Committee have worked collaboratively in order to produce a report detailing examples of best practice and practical guidance on what their businesses are doing to facilitate a green-led recovery.
The report itself identified five key areas in which businesses are working to achieve positive outcomes
- Energy consumption
- Data collection and target setting
- Green skills
- Supply chain
- Waste management.

We hope that this fantastic resource offers practical guidance and new ideas on the role that business can play to promote a greener recovery as we emerge from COVID-19. London is always at its best when it leads from the front and with the eyes of the world on us as we host COP26 and the G7, let us all play our part to deliver on our shared goal of a more sustainable future for London and the rest of the UK. We are encouraged by the excellent start that London has made towards net-zero but let’s keep going!— Rodney Appiah, Chairman of Cornerstone Partners and Chair of the London Under 35
