Public Bill Committee members asked the panel, which included representatives of the Royal Society and the Royal Academy of Engineering, for their views on a number of issues, including:
- How ARIA should fit into the current innovation ecosystem
- Whether the agency needs a clear mission
- How the agency should manage the relationship with the private sector.
The CBI has been supportive of the creation of a new high-risk, high-reward agency. We have been in discussion with government, sharing the views of members, on how this agency can be best established in collaboration with business, and in a way that supports the UK’s ambition to be a science superpower.
