“Cyber security is at the core of a company’s very existence,” said CBI Chief UK Policy Director Matthew Fell, kicking off the CBI’s 5th annual Cyber Security Conference. “Cyber-attacks are increasing in frequency and sophistication – and financial cost is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what’s at risk.”
It also impacts on trust in business, he continued, citing its importance in maintaining consumer trust, in the successful uptake of new technologies and for winning new business.
“If there is a silver bullet when it comes to cyber security, we haven’t found it yet,” he added. “But smarter collaboration will go a long way to boosting awareness on cyber security and turning that awareness into action.”
