An Audience with Greater Manchester Mayoral Candidates

With voting to elect the Mayor of Greater Manchester due to take place on 6 May 2021, join us to hear from some of the candidates bidding to secure the position.

In association with our fellow business organisation the FSB, we will bring together the mayoral candidates to offer you the opportunity to hear their plans and priorities, as well as providing a platform for you to raise questions to them directly. Alex Turner, Editor of the Business Desk will chair the hustings.

Mayors are genuine political heavyweights and are playing increasingly important roles in democratic life. In Greater Manchester the metro mayor has control over a £900m gainshare fund over 30 years, which they can use to leverage private investment to drive growth in the region. In addition, they have control over a £6bn health and social care budget, recognising the vital link between health and productivity in the region. They also have devolved powers and funding in adult education, aspects of spatial planning, transport and business support.

They have a vital role to play in making the region attractive to domestic and overseas investment, and to create the best conditions for business to thrive.

With significant powers to shape local decision making they need to understand what matters most to businesses in their area. Please take this opportunity to listen to the Mayoral candidates and ensure they hear the passionate voices from business.

You’ll particularly benefit from this event if you are:

  • CEOs / COOs / Managing Directors
  • Government Affairs / Corporate Affairs Directors / Heads of
  • Public Affairs Directors / Heads of
