14:00 - 15:00
Join Tony Danker’s first major speech of 2021, where he’ll be making the case for why the UK needs a bold, new economic vision - shaped and driven by business - to build a modern, dynamic and competitive economy in the decade ahead.
The UK stands at a crossroads. The twin shocks of COVID-19 and Brexit coupled with structural changes driven by net-zero and technology give us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape our economic future, and tackle persistent challenges around productivity, and regional and social inequality. This is a chance for the UK to do something different and better than it’s ever done before.
We believe that the CBI is uniquely well placed to help shape this vision, with our convening power to bring together all walks of business, from entrepreneurs to corporates, local firms to global enterprises. But the window of opportunity is closing. If we do not act now, then when? So, over the coming months, we will be working with CBI members to build a bold, agenda-setting vision for the UK.
In his speech, CBI's Director-General will be outlining the imperative of that work, the size of the prize on offer, why business is equipped to help drive and shape the vision, and the conditions for success for us to compete and win in this new decade.
This event will be hosted online by Bloomberg.
