Director-General, Confindustria, Italy
Marcella is the Director-General of Confindustria and member of the Corporate Governance Committee of Borsa Italiana (Italian Stock Exchance); she is also board member of Il Sole 24 Ore, member of the Executive Bureau of BusinessEurope, CNEL consultant, and member of the Scientific Committee of Retake. From June 2018, she is member of the Supervisory Board of the Human Technopole Foundation.
She graduated in Law with honours in 1994 at Luiss-Guido Carli University. In 1999, she completed her studies at University College of London studying "The Role of Economics in EC Competition Law". In 2004, she obtained her PhD in "Discipline of the freedom of competition” at the University of Perugia.
Her professional career in Confindustria started in 1995 and continued until 2011, interspersed with an experience in the Directorate General for Competition at the European Commission, Brussels.
First appointed as manager in the Finance and Business Law Department in 2001, she was Director of the Legal Affairs, Finance and Business Law Unit from 2005 to 2008 and, in 2009, Director of the Legislative Affairs Department.
She represented Confindustria in many national and international institutional seats, participating in committees and commissions established, among others, by the Ministries of Public Administration and simplification, Economy and Finance, and Justice, by the Italian Stock Exchange, and by BusinessEurope.
From November 2011 to July 2012, she was Head of the Technical Secretariat and Economic Consultant of Minister of Justice, Paola Severino.
She is author of many publications in the field of Economics and Law.
