Heba Bevan OBE
Heba is a highly motivated business leader with a track record of technical innovation and technology deployment on large infrastructure and construction projects. She is passionate about technology design, STEM education and the expansion of hi-tech manufacturing in Britain. Heba’s technical expertise includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, blockchain, optics, semiconductors, compound semiconductors and communication systems. She has in-depth knowledge and experience in embedded software markets, networking, wireless sensors and cyber security. Heba cultivates strong customer and partner relationships, enabling parties to maximise contributions in their respective areas of knowledge.
Heba Studied electronics and computer engineering (hon), receiving a first for her final year project on robotics visualisation. Upon graduation she worked as a CPU (central processing unit) engineer for the microchip design company ARM. After being an integral designer of the ARM Cortex processors, which is found in virtually all mobile phones in the world today, she moved to another role in ARM as a technical sales engineer. Heba went back to The University of Cambridge (Jesus College) to do her PhD in low power wireless sensor networks, it was during her PhD that Heba founded UtterBerry. 5 years on Heba has multiple patents to her name in a wide range of fields from manufacturing and engineering to Medicine and Sensing. Heba has won many awards including the Digital Innovation Award from CIOB in 2014, The Construction Excellence National Award for Innovation in 2015, and two NCE Ground Engineering awards.
Heba was awarded an OBE in 2018 for her services to innovation, technology and STEM education. Heba has track record of serving with distinction on boards as a non-executive director, including on the Careers Services Board member at Jesus College, Cambridge, and Industrial Advisory Board at the Royal (guiding the University to achieve full engineering accreditation with IET). In 2021 Heba won Vodafone Women of the Year award for Innovation and she was named Top 20 Women in Dada, Top 32 Women in Tech leaders and 20 Women in Data and named in 2020 and 2021 as one of the top 25 most influential women in UK Tech.
Heba is the CEO and founder of UtterBerry Ltd. UtterBerry is a patented intelligent wireless sensor system which works on extremely low power. Fitting in the palm of the hand and weighing less than 15 grams, UtterBerry sensors are the smallest and lightest wireless sensors in the world and are also the first to employ artificial intelligence. Despite their size, they work to sub-millimetre precision, measuring multiple variables; collecting and interpreting data at the source and transmitting information in real time.
