Business rates: the case for reform

With the coronavirus pandemic having heavily impacted the UK business landscape, and disrupting operations worldwide, many companies are still fighting to survive this crisis, whilst thinking about 'what next?'.

At March’s Budget, the CBI is calling on the government to reform business rates once and for all. Comprehensive reform will deliver change that safeguards the UK’s economic recovery, drives levelling up across the country, and unlocks investment to tackle the climate emergency. In this webinar, hear from CBI and business experts about why now is the time to finally deliver rates reform.

Join John Foster (Director of Policy and Communications, CBI), Annie Gascoyne (Director of Economic Policy, CBI), and Tim Beattie (Head of UK Rating, JLL), for a discussion on:

  • The case for business rates reform and what the CBI is calling for in the upcoming Spring Budget
  • How the current system is impacting firms’ ability to invest and address the UK’s challenges, particularly on the climate emergency
  • How the CBI is working with government on the immediate support businesses require to see them through the pandemic

  • John Foster, Director of Policy and Communications, CBI
  • Annie Gascoyne, Director of Economic Policy, CBI
  • Tim Beattie, Head of UK Rating, JLL
  • James Harding, Co-Founder and Editor, Tortoise Media (chair)
