Financial Directors have a special responsibility for understanding and mitigating competition law risk within the companies they oversee. This roundtable will be an opportunity to hear more about what this could mean for your company and to pose questions to the CMA, the UK’s lead competition regulator.
This is a fantastic opportunity for personal development, whether it is relevant to your current role or a future role. This topic is especially relevant to those currently working in regulated industries.
We will be joined by Alison Gold, Director of Mergers and Jason Freeman, Head of Consumer Law from the CMA who will be on hand to introduce the CMA and the work they carry out to promote competition and to ensure that markets work well for consumers, businesses, and the economy – both at a national and increasingly, regional levels.
In addition, we will also be joined by Russell Antram, Head of Group (EU Negotiations) at the CBI, who will be able to provide a short update on the EU negotiations, at this critical time.
The discussion will be chaired by Ben Rhodes, Senior Associate Director of CBI South West, in a Chatham House setting.
CMA Guest Speakers:
Jason is a Legal Director at the CMA and the CMA’s Regional Champion for the East of England. As a Regional Champion, Jason helps the CMA to maintain relationships with regional stakeholders, raise awareness of the CMA’s role, and gather insight and intelligence.
Alison has been at the CMA since 2017 working on markets and mergers cases, including a major inquiry into the investment consultants who advise the main UK workplace pension trusts. Before joining the CMA, she worked in strategy roles at a variety of public and private sector organisations including the BBC. She was a management consultant at KPMG and a boutique consultancy for 10 years.)
Please note this event is for CBI Members based in the East of England, East Midlands, London, South East, South West and Thames Valley Regions.
Invites are transferable, but we ask those joining the calls to be senior or executive level and have an overview of the company’s thinking in this space.
