Influence and Shape the landscape for Health

COVID-19 has put the health of the nation under the spotlight, demonstrating its importance for a strong economy. In the face of a global health crisis, businesses stepped up, placing an increased emphasis on supporting the health and wellbeing of their employees.

The CBI aims to support the health of the nation, using this behavioural shift to showcase both the health and economic benefit of investing in the UK's Health and Life sciences sectors.

For the first time we are looking to set out asks of business as well as the government and we would particularly welcome your input into what these actions and commitments should look like, as we take a deep dive into health as the foundation of wellbeing and economic growth.

In this session, you will hear from the CBI and fellow business leaders about the environment and opportunities for health in the UK, and feed in your view on the key challenges and blockers to progress. You will also have the opportunity to shape success criteria, share ideas for what government and business could do differently, and highlight your own good practice as we look to profile where business is already leading the way.

Why you should attend:

  • Hear from Tina Woods, CEO at Business for Health, who will discuss the Business Index for Health - the CBI and Business for Health's newest health project. The index aims to showcase what good business-led health intervention looks like, detailing the benefits to workforce health and business growth, and to incentivise both industry and government to invest in these interventions
  • Gain further insight into the Seize the Moment themes, why they are important and where your business can take action
  • Share the KPIs you think the CBI should be committing to, in order to benefit your business’ journey to transforming the UK economy
  • Showcase your business and the actions you have taken in this area
  • Workshop the CBI’s 2022 workplan to boost economic progress; tell us about your business’ needs and how we can help you
  • Voice your priorities and feedback what you expect from the government and any policy-specific questions that you have.

Sessions are open to all CBI members. We encourage businesses to attend as many sessions as are relevant and welcome multiple delegates from the same firm as the input shapes the CBI’s workplan for 2022.

The sessions:

Tuesday 05 October: Skills and Inclusion

Wednesday 06 October: Decarbonisation
