Influence and Shape the landscape for Innovation

From accelerating digital strategies to developing new products, services and business models, innovation has been critical for businesses throughout the pandemic. Looking ahead, innovation will continue to be a driver of growth and competitiveness for businesses and the UK.

The government is clear that innovation is vital to achieving its ambitions around net zero, levelling up and global Britain. Our partners and competitors in the US, the EU and China are already accelerating innovation, recognising that it is core to competitiveness and tackling national and global challenges.

For the first time we are looking to set out asks of business as well as the government and so we would particularly welcome your input into what these actions and commitments should look like, as we take a deep dive into how we can adopt innovative and breakthrough ideas, together.

In this session, you will hear from the CBI and fellow business leaders about the environment and opportunities for innovation in the UK, and feed in your view on the key challenges and blockers to progress. You will also have the opportunity to shape success criteria, share ideas for what government and business could do differently, and highlight your own good practice as we look to profile where business is already leading the way.

Why you should attend:

  • Hear from Katherine Bennett CBE, CEO at HVM Catapult who will discuss how crucial innovation is to delivering a competitive, dynamic and future-focused economy, and how business and government can play their part
  • Workshop how the CBI can work on your behalf on innovation in 2022; tell us about your business’ needs and how we can help you
  • Highlight your own good practice as we look to profile examples of where business is leading the way
  • Discuss the criteria for success and KPIs you think we should be setting, in order to benefit your business’ journey to transforming the UK economy
  • Voice your priorities and feed into us what you expect from the government and any policy-specific questions that you have.

Sessions are open to all CBI members. We encourage businesses to attend as many sessions as are relevant and welcome multiple delegates from the same firm as the input shapes the CBI’s workplan for 2022.
