The CBI has an active peer network in the people and skills space, meeting regularly to discuss current business challenges affecting the HR function. Join us to hear from expert speakers and benefit from shared learning.
The first meeting of our Network in 2020 will focus on harassment – something which is unfortunately becoming more of an issue in the workplace. Sexual harassment, wherever it takes place, is illegal and totally unacceptable – not least in the workplace. Yet according to a 2017 poll of ComRes and the BBC, 53% of women and 20% of men have experienced sexual harassment in their place of work or study.
Join Anna Koch, CBI’s Senior Policy Advisor, Employment Law & Employee Relations, to discuss the 2019 Government’s consultations on sexual harassment in the workplace and the implications the suggested proposals would have on businesses if they were implemented.
Specifically, we will focus on proposals to:
Introduce a new duty for employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, and
Reinstating protection against sexual harassment by third parties through the re-introduction of section 40 of the Equality Act
The session will also be an opportunity to benchmark good practice to minimise the risk of sexual harassment at work, as well as how to respond to instances of harassment.
By attending this event, you will:
Exchange practical ideas to drive business performance through more effective leadership, management and working practices
Discuss the major barriers standing in the way of exceptional leadership, engagement and development practices
Leave with practical takeaways which can be implemented into your business
Who should attend?
