Policy briefing on investing in the energy transition: nuclear

Join business leaders, investors, and stakeholders operating within the nuclear sector to discuss how to deliver the government’s ambition and finance new nuclear in the coming decade and beyond.

In light of government strategies including the Net Zero Strategy and British Energy Security Strategy, and external events increasing the need to accelerate the energy transition, the CBI is hosting a roundtable series on financing the technologies necessary to deliver the UK’s net zero ambition.

This breakfast roundtable discussion will focus on the financing of new nuclear energy in the UK. The Nuclear Energy (Financing) Act 2022 has seen the announcement of the RAB model as a suitable option for financing nuclear power generation, and the British Energy Security Strategy has set additional ambitions and the Great British Nuclear vehicle.

The roundtable, under a Chatham House setting, will be chaired by Tom Thackray, Programme Director of Decarbonisation at the CBI, and we will be joined by key government stakeholders from BEIS, HMT and the IPA.
