Join business leaders and experts for insight and support at this dedicated SME bi-weekly discussion on the coronavirus recovery. This week we will be looking at CBI’s work on reviving regions.
The CBI is currently consulting members for our work on reviving regions, aiming to publish a government facing report later this year to shape future policy making. This will consider how to level up the country in spite of the impacts of coronavirus. We will be looking at how to close productivity gaps, but seek to go further with a focus on the wider issues around inequality and access to opportunities. The focus for our work will be on creating strong local labour markets, vibrant places through improved connectivity, and how to attract world class businesses to all English regions.
We are seeking the views of our SME members to shape this work and would welcome your views on:
The role of regional bodies (Local Enterprise Partnerships, Growth Hubs, Combined Authorities, etc) in driving growth, and how can they be strengthened?
What changes to your workforce/business models are you preparing for following coronvirus, and what short term support is still needed for businesses?
What more can be done to support business growth from start up to scale up, and what barriers to SMEs face across the regions when raising equity?
How to ensure that as we recover from the economic impact of the forced lockdown, that sustainability and progress to net-zero emissions is at the heart of any recovery plan
