15:30 - 16:15
As the UK prepares to launch negotiations for bespoke trade agreements with Canada and Mexico, join us for a discussion with the Rt Hon Liz Truss MP, Secretary of State for International Trade.
The Secretary of State will provide an overview of the scope and ambition for these negotiations and hear your feedback under Chatham House Rule.
As both negotiations have similar timescales, the Department for International Trade is simultaneously requesting input from businesses interested in either Canada or Mexico. This will be the first opportunity for business to feed in priorities ahead of official talks.
You will have the opportunity to suggest areas within the UK-Canada and UK-Mexico relationships that can be addressed for the benefit of UK business and to learn more about how these trade deals fit into the UK’s wider strategy, including for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
As time is limited, we would welcome your suggested questions in advance.
By attending this event you will:
15:30 Welcome and introduction from Lord Karan Bilimoria CBE, DL, President, CBI
15:35 Opening remarks from the Rt Hon Liz Truss MP, Secretary of State for International Trade
15:45 Member input and discussion
