CBI responds to publication of AI Governance White Paper

Susannah Odell, CBI Deputy Director for Digital, said:

“Businesses will welcome the extra clarity this [AI Governance White Paper] brings on the Government’s direction of travel - which will provide a boost to business investment decisions. The White Paper rightly recognises the need to create proportionate guardrails that promote innovation and international coordination, while ensuring safety and security. Firms stand ready to further support the Government in developing this approach.

“It’s crucial we accelerate our ambitions in science, innovation and tech to spur the UK’s growth. We have recently launched our Project Decacorn - a campaign to support the UK’s most innovative and high-growth firms in scaling up from $1 billion unicorns to $10 billion decacorns. Identifying and tackling the barriers holding back firms from investing in and growing the UK economy will be key to seizing these opportunities.”
