Business priorities for the National Innovation Plan

The CBI submission on the National Innovation Plan stresses the importance of innovation for productivity, prosperity and the UK’s competitiveness as an advanced knowledge-based economy.

In a submission on the new National Innovation Plan which the Business Secretary is preparing the CBI calls for renewed commitment to long-term industrial strategy and a cautious approach to changes in Innovate UK’s portfolio and governance.

The submission argues that the UK innovation ecosystem currently has some major strengths, but we need to raise our game. However, proposed changes to the ecosystem must be handled with care in order to minimise risks.
