CBI supply chain heatmap
Sharing cross-economy member insight on supply chain disruption with government.
What are the challenges facing members?
On top of recovering from COVID, businesses face immediate challenges to growth: labour shortages, energy price rises and supply chain disruption are having a direct impact on production levels. And growing cost pressures, caused by higher wages, as well as increased distribution, component, and energy costs, are also being passed on to consumers.
Sharing cross economy insights via our supply chain heatmap
Since the autumn, the CBI has been using a ‘supply chain heatmap’ to share cross-economy insight with the government, including the Cabinet Office-led Supply Chain Taskforce. This was based on input from CBI trade associations and members via regional councils and 1-2-1 meetings.
The heatmap:
- Aims to support the government’s ongoing effort to tackle supply chain disruption.
- Gathers member insights and economic survey data on a regular basis to provide an overview of how supply chain disruption is impacting across the economy.
- Looks to provide some horizon scanning to help government get early sight of emerging issues.
This has been widely welcomed across government with feedback underlining it’s been a helpful cross-economy view of the issues affecting businesses.
