CBI responds to PM’s announcement on higher education and apprenticeships

Matthew Percival, CBI Future of Work Director, said:

"The best targets focus on outcomes rather than inputs, so adding flexibility that recognises the value of both degrees and apprenticeships is positive. Businesses see tackling the barriers to apprenticeship delivery and addressing the financial sustainability of universities as key to achieving the target.

“A good starting point would be a firm commitment to invest all revenue from the Growth & Skills Levy directly into skills development and revisiting proposals for a new levy on international student income."
