Building cyber resilience
The government has published a joint letter from the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology and the Security Minister for the Cabinet Office and Home Office, highlighting the growing risk of cyber attacks enabled by novel artificial intelligence tools such as Mythos, and setting out expectations for business leaders.
The government letter highlights three key actions for business leaders to prioritise:
- Treat cyber risk, including AI‑enabled threats, as a top-level organisational priority
- Adopt recognised frameworks and standards, including Cyber Essentials and the Cyber Assessment Framework
- Engage with trusted sources of guidance, such as National Cyber Security Centre

Naomi Weir, Technology and Innovation Transformation Director, CBI, said:
"The government’s letter reflects what businesses experience on the ground: AI is accelerating cyber risk, making preparedness, resilience, and recovery core business capabilities. The letter provides useful steer on the steps business leaders can take now to strengthen cyber resilience and, therefore, protect growth and safeguard operations. Businesses need clear expectations and trusted engagement with government to help them navigate this evolving risk, which the CBI is facilitating through our new cyber programme."
